Adelaide Mattox enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1983 and was an active duty member until 1986, when she transitioned to the Army Reserves, from which she retired in 2007. For 32 years, she worked for Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Georgetown, Kentucky, and was chair of the Toyota Veterans Association. She helped institute a veterans hiring incentive at Toyota.
Mattox worked with the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs as the Women Veterans Coordinator. She is a volunteer and board member with Lady Veterans Connect. She helps coordinate the Women in Service Recognition event at the state capitol and served as primary advisor to the Kentucky Historical Society’s “Our Stories, Our Service” exhibit.
